The Amazing Sarong
The Amazing Sarong is a theatrical production presented by Esplanade, adapted from the book by Quek Hong Shin. Written by Faith Ng and directed by Irfan Kasban, this performance follows siblings Nora and Adi as they discover the magical possibilities hidden within their mother's sarong. The seemingly ordinary piece of cloth transforms into sails, secret hideouts, costumes, and capes, taking the characters on a playful adventure filled with surprises, laughter, and new encounters.
The 45-minute show, with no intermission, is designed to celebrate the joy of play and the strength of family bonds. It encourages children and their grown-ups to recognize the extraordinary possibilities in everyday objects. The performance aims to foster empathy and positive connections as children learn to notice and care for the feelings of others through Nora and Adi's experiences.
This production includes accessibility features such as a Relaxed Performance and Assistive Listening. The audience will be seated on the floor, and all children must be accompanied by an adult. Tickets are required for all patrons, including infants in arms. The show is performed in English and is recommended for children aged 3 to 6 years old.
