Monstrous Fun 2026 returns to The Arts House at the Old Parliament from 29 to 31 May 2026, offering three afternoons of family-friendly adventures.

Part of the Civic District Children’s Season 2026, this festival transforms the venue into a playful world of stories, crafts, performances, and imaginative experiences.

Children aged five and above can explore children’s literature through hands-on activities, storytelling sessions, workshops, and interactive performances.

Highlights include the interactive performance 'Journey West – Web of Deceit' ($5/pax), the 'Magical Sweet Monsters: From Yuck To Yum!' workshop ($5/ticket for child and adult), free drop-in activities like 'The Garden' and 'Monster Parade', and free storytelling sessions such as 'Touch Wood!

A Superstitious Storytelling & Song Session' and 'Monsters Have Feelings Too!'. The festival also features a Book Fair, face painting, a Crayola Activity Booth, and the 'Monster Hunt' quest. Most activities are free, with some ticketed at $5.

The event runs daily from 12pm to 5pm. Families can also enjoy the free Civic District Art Bus connecting key arts venues.
