When Art Meets Nature: Reimagining Nature Through Art and Play

When Art Meets Nature is a multi-sensory, nature-inspired art exhibition at National Gallery Singapore, running from 30 April to 1 November 2026. This immersive experience invites families to explore forests, rivers, and ecological stories through interactive play and artistic engagement. Co-curated with the Taoyuan Museum of Fine Arts, the presentation features two standout works previously shown at the Taoyuan Children’s Art Center, offering Singapore audiences a rare cross-cultural encounter.

The exhibition includes Singaporean artist Soh Ee Shaun's 'Peace Forest,' which transforms the gallery into a lush, imaginative ecosystem with soft sculptures of endangered animals and botanical forms. It provides a restorative space for open-ended play and observation. In contrast, Taiwanese artist Yenting Hsu's 'Where the River Runs' offers a sound-led experience shaped by indigenous stories and traditions from communities along Taiwan's Dahan River, highlighting waterways as vessels of cultural memory and ecological knowledge.

Designed to nurture environmental awareness and meaningful engagement with art from a young age, the exhibition blends creativity, culture, and sustainability. It reflects National Gallery Singapore's commitment to regional artistic dialogue and lifelong learning through art, making it an inspiring family outing that goes beyond a typical gallery visit.
