Armenian Street Party: A Peranakan Gathering
The Armenian Street Party presents A Peranakan Gathering, a vibrant celebration of Peranakan culture from March 13 to 15, 2026. The event transforms Armenian Street into a lively hub of heritage activities, featuring free admission to most programmes. Highlights include live performances on a main stage celebrating Peranakan traditions, interactive installations, and community participation sessions such as Threads of Gathering by artist Dawn Koh. Attendees can engage with the cast of Aunty Lee’s Deadly Delights in a mystery-solving pop-up, enjoy live cooking demonstrations by community chefs and guest stars, and participate in the ASP Bingo Challenge to win prizes.
Food experiences range from free traditional dessert pop-ups and Peranakan-inspired drinks at suns Living Room to ticketed events like Kueh & Kopi: A Kueh Picnic on March 14. Learning opportunities include free cooking demonstrations such as From Pot to Plate: Cooking Bamia with Aziza Ali, Dapor Diva Meets Aunty Lee: A Killer Ayam Buah Keluak, and Going Bananas! A Banana Tree Culinary Experience. Craft workshops like Petals & Paper: Crafting Peonies, Edible Kokedama, and Bunga Peranakan: Hand-Tied Bouquet offer hands-on creative sessions for ages 16 and up.
Cultural immersion extends through activities like Baba Nyonya Dress Up, Mari Chakap Baba! with ChakapBot for learning Baba Malay, and Pantun Pinch! with Baba Gabra for personalized poetry. Evening theatre performances titled A Tapestry of Peranakan Stories present reimagined heritage narratives, while Singgah and Sing Along! sessions close each day with community music. The event also features a Peranakan games area with Mari Main! Peranakan Games and extended offerings like a literary showcase and community song collection from March 9 to 12 and 16 to 31 at the Peranakan Museum.
